Charles DICKENS, Bleak House, Macmillan Readers, B2 2200 Headwords
By María Pérez, 2º Bachillerato EFL

Sir Leicester Dedlock and Lady Dedlock live in Chesney Wold. Lady Dedlock had had an affair with Captain Hawdon before getting married, and gave birth to his daughter. This daughter, called Esther Summerson, was raised by her aunt. When the aunt died, Esther was 20 and John Jarndyce was appointed her guardian. Esther travelled to Lord Jarndyce's house, Bleak House, with Ada Clare and Richard Carstone. Ada, Richard, and Mr. Jarndyce are part of a dark past, called Jarndyce and Jarndyce.
I didn’t find this book too complicated except because it has too many characters. I would like to recommend it to teenagers and adults as, although the vocabulary is quite easy, it is sometimes difficult to follow the story because of the appearance of so many characters at the same time.
