This book is about two sisters, Anna and Kate Fitzgerald. Kate is the older sister who suffers from leukaemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. Although Kate’s treatment was initially successful, she needed someone who could donate her a kidney. The only compatible family member was Anna. Anna was willing to do anything she could to save her sister. Kate insisted that Anna didn’t donate her kidney because it could have a serious impact on her life. Nevertheless, in the end Anna’s kidney was successfully replaced in Kate’s body and thanks to this, Kate went to college and became a dance teacher.

I think this has been a really interesting book. You can’t stop reading because you want to know what happens next. It also shows how complicated it is to make some decisions depending on the circumstances.

I’ll rate it four stars.

DOWNHAM, Jenny (2007), Before I die

Tessa is a sixteen year old girl who suffers from a terminal cancer. As she only has a few months of life, she decides to write a list about certain thing she wants to do before dying, such as to drive a car or to go to exotic countries. Tessa has a very good friend called Zoey. Zoey promised Tessa that she would do anything she could to help her. And in fact she did...

I think it is a sad book (you will have to find out why) but also a very complex one, very well written and with a lot of description.

I’ll rate it five stars

ACKROYD, Peter (2005) Cities of Blood, Voyages Through Time (144 pages)

It´s a history book; a Mayan, Aztec, etc. history book. It is about the civilizations that lived in Centre and South America. It includes many images and maps. It is really informative.

Fantastic, brilliant… are words that describe this book. I wish I had read it when I was younger, during my history lessons on this topic. I would have got a 10 out of 10! Anyway, I recommend this book for people who like ancient history. It contains a lot of facts and sources. It also shows you how to eat like them and many other things.

It´s 1940 and Eddie writes her day to day life. She has two brothers and sisters: Frank, Maureen, Shir and Tom. On the 28th of October Tom and Eddie are evacuated to Eales to some evil people. But when they wash Tom´s mouth with soap and water it´s the final straw. Eddie takes Tom home. And at the end their house is bombed.

I recommend this book to social history fans and to all ages.

I give it five stars.

The promised one has arrived! Lucy, a schoolgirl of eleven, finds out that animals have been expecting her for more than a million years. Suddenly she is taken off in a quest to save the jaguars, the Amazon and her father. She is the only person in the world with her awesome power and her extraordinary powersand her destiny is to save the planet.

I recommend this book to 9 to 11 years but all ages will enjoy this book.

I give it three stars (normal)
